Friday Update

There was great excitement this week for hot lunches being available for all pupils in BGNS. It has been a long, slow process to get this up and running, but we are very happy with the initial positive response.

-Please note that it is optional. Pupils don’t have to get hot lunches every day if they wish. We recommend that parents tailor the order to suit your child’s taste and your family life after school in the evening. To avoid unnecessary waste, please select the opt out option (I don’t need a hot lunch today) for the relevant day. Orders can be edited by logging in before midnight tonight (https://order.carambola.ie/).

-Pupils do need a snack for their first break. We are really encouraging that this is healthy and sufficient to keep them going until they get the hot lunch @1.20pm.

-If the pupils are away for an event/trip, they must bring their own lunch that day. We will notify the provider in advance when this happens.

Attendance in school is really important. The school is legally obliged to report to Tusla if a pupil is absent over 20 days. Please ensure that you have completed the explanation note if your child is absent from school.
We are here to support parents and pupils if there are any issues about attending school. Please see research published this week regarding the impact of school absenteeism:

We are looking for unused hurls and/or helmets. If you have these at home, we would be delighted with the donation!

Best of luck to Ms. Gannon this weekend, playing Dublin V Wexford

Some very excited 2017 girls will be playing at half time!

Have a great weekend.
