Game On!

Game On! is our school initiative, where equipment is put out on the playgrounds, and games are supervised by 6th class Playground Leaders.

The following are some of the activities in a list compiled by Amelia, Maya and Sean (6th Class):

  • Football tennis (two or four player game in a four-square layout where players keep the ball in the air hitting to each other)
  • 4 in-a-row (in this 2 player game people compete to see who can get 4 in a row with little rings)
  • 4-Square (drawn with chalk to make a square, they pass it around using their hands, don’t forget to keep it in the square)
  • Joyful Jenga (game where you make towers or buildings out of bricks)
  • Spikeball (students get a tiny yellow ball and a mini trampoline that they bounce the ball on)
  • Basketball Shots (3rd) (in this game people compete to see if you can get it in the hop and if you miss you are in hot seat and if you get it in the person goes out
  • Freestyle Skipping (in this game you jump with skipping rope)
  • Happy Hoops (this game is really fun, students are given an amount of space while they have some fun playing)
  • Hopping Hurdles (in this game you jump over hurdles and the bar keeps going high)
  • Penalties (4th) (students get a soft soccer ball and we draw a goal on a wall we have then the students line up and take shots)
  • The Great Chalk-Off (a fun creative place where students play and draw)
  • Tiny Tennis (Tiny Tennis is a game where two poles are across from each other and a rope tied between them and each player has a tennis racket and they hit the tennis ball with a racket)

Skipping Ropes, Football Tennis, Spikeball and Giant Jenga are particularly popular. Thanks to the very responsible leaders for all their work, and to SNAs supporting the coordination of this. It has a really positive impact on playtime for so many pupils in the school.
